The Neve 1073LBEQ provides a Neve 1073 EQ circuit in a single 500-series module. The 1073 is widely considered the world’s premier mic preamp & EQ module, delivering the unique Neve sound featured on some of the most famous recordings of the past 40 years.

The big, punchy sound of the classic Neve 1073 module complements any musical genre, from rock to rap, jazz to classical. Its lush sound with classic Neve signature makes it the consummate mic-pre/EQ module for recording vocals, guitars, and acoustic instruments of all descriptions. With the 1073LBEQ module, the highly sought-after classic EQ sound is now available in a 500-series form-factor.

Highlights

    * Legendary 3-band EQ design
* When integrated with 1073LB preamp, the combination is 100% discrete and = genuine 1073 mic pre/EQ
* Rotary controls provide accurate adjustment of the 1073 3-band EQ and High Pass Filter
* Signal presence LED illuminates green from a level of -25dB and red from a level of +24dB
* Switch for EQ IN/OUT function, with LED indication
* Electronically balanced classic Neve circuits used in Line Input and Line Output stages for standalone module use. These stages are bypassed and the 1073LBEQ module is 100% discrete when combined with the 1073LB mic preamp
* Audio Processing Insert design allows the audio to/from the 1073LBEQ module to be inserted into the audio path of an existing 1073LB (modules must be fitted in the same rack)
* High frequency concentric knobs perform two functions: HF shelf control and High Pass Filter control
* Fully screened module packaged in Mu-metal case eliminates stray electromagnetic fields from Lunchbox PSU or other module types

The 1073LBEQ provides the legendary sound of Neve in a remarkably simple format. A Line level input feeds an electronically balanced EQ circuit with 3-bands of adjustable EQ and a High Pass filter, which can easily be switched in/out. The output is also an electronically balanced Line level output. A signal presence LED and Neve’s clever Audio Processing Insert design is also integrated into the module.

The 1073LBEQ can be modified to work as an inserted process with an existing 1073LB mic pre module. A modification is required inside both units and a cable, which is supplied with the 1073LBEQ module, is needed to connect the LB mic pre to the LB EQ. The result of this is a genuine 1073 mic/pre input -> EQ -> output audio path when in this mode. Revolutionary!

This mono unit is the perfect solution for studios and audio engineers looking to bring in the very essence of the Neve 1073 EQ sound to their portable racks.

Note: The Neve 1073LBEQ will not work with the A Designs 500HR 2 Slot rack or the Empirical Labs EL500 2 Slot 500 Series Rack.

From Anamod:

Vesatile modeled amplifier
· Two transformer stages - 2 models each
· Two tube stages stages - 4 models each
· All analog - no latency or conversion
· Single-space 500 series rack format

Whether tracking live or re-processing instruments, many people use a tube amplifier to shape the sound of a track. The AnaMod XF Tube provides a unique way to do this. The XF Tube is an analog model of an amplifier which consists of an input transformer, 2 tube stages, and an output transformer. Any of the stages may be bypassed and each stage has switchable parameters. The transformer stages allow for the selection of an iron or nickel core model while the tube stages provide models for both pentodes and triodes as well as configuring the stage as either push-pull or single-ended.

The XF Tube, while being model based, is a purely analog device. It was created using the AnaMod process to model the complex tube and transformer characteristics. Unlike a digital plug-in or processor- based outboard gear, there is no latency, and no A/D or D/A conversions to compromise the sound.

Specifications

Input Impedance: 20KΩ, balanced
Output Impedance: less than 50Ω
Max. Output Level: +21dBu, balanced
Transformer Models: Iron or Nickel
Tube Models: Pentode or Triode
Stage Configurations: Push-Pull or Single Ended
Drive Controls: One for each tube stage
Iron / Byp. / Nickel: Sets the transformer model or bypasses the stage entirely.
Single-Ended / Byp. / Push-Pull: Sets the stage configuration or bypasses the stage entirely.

ANAMOD WILL BE SHOWING THIS FANTASTIC PROUCT AT AES 2010!

FROM VINTAGE KING:

"Vintage King Audio is pleased to officially announce the release of the Neve 1073 LB 500 Series Mono Mic Preamp Module, from AMS Neve. The Neve 1073LB will be available in the United States exclusively through Vintage King Audio.

The original Neve 1073 module is arguably the most desirable mic pre and first choice of countless engineers and producers since its inception 40 years ago. Imitated (but never matched) by a number of equipment manufacturers, AMS-Neve has officially recreated the 1073ʼs big punchy sound and made it available for your Lunchbox with the Neve 1073LB.

“Vintage Kingʼs customers have been asking for something like this and we worked closely with Neve for some time to bring it to the market,” says Mike Nehra, Co-Owner of Vintage King Audio. “You can tell Neve really took pride and went to great lengths with this model. The build quality is solid and the tone of this unit stands neck in neck with classic and new Neve 1073 models. We anticipate that this will do fantastic in the marketplace.”

Crafted in England by Neve engineers, the 1073LB retains the unique sonic characteristics of its original predecessor by using the same architecture, matching components and original handwound transformers. With new features like a fine TRIM control, switchable microphone input impedance, signal presence LED, intelligent protected switching of front combi-XLR input connector and Neveʼs Audio Processing Insert design, the new 1073LB expands upon the legendary Class A design and takes your lunchbox to the next level at an incredibly price point ($995.00 USD).

Hey everyone,

As some of you may know, I offer a couple affordable 500 series, all discrete mic preamp kits over at my store, classicapi.com. I do offer them in fully assembled, tested versions also but the kits seem to be the most popular thing these days. I guess when you look at the “bang for buck” ratio, I don’t think they can be beat. They have been available now for almost a full year with an excellent proven track record.

The kits started off over at Prodigy and have been migrating this way to gs over the last few months. I could tell by some of the inquiries that customers were very much newb’s to DIY work. After noticing this progression, I started on a very detailed and complete, step-by-step Assembly Guide. This guide will take any and all guess work out of populating the PCB and the little quirks of physical assembly. I wanted to make sure that if a person has decent tools and can build a clean guitar cable, that this mic preamp kit would be a logical “first DIY project”.

I am also making this guide a free download for any and everyone. This way, if you are not sure about the kit, download the docs, read them over and get a feel for it before investing any hard earned money.

Click to download the VP2x Assembly Guide

VP2x Features:

    * All discrete, vintage style circuitry with 60 db of overall gain
* Continuously variable control of Preamp Gain over a 34 db range
* Mute switch for quite & safe switching of microphones
* Polarity reversal
* 20 db Pad for input attenuation
* 48V switchable phantom power
* Fully variable, custom made output attenuator
* Custom made, Ed Anderson EA2622 1:7 input transformer
* Custom made, Ed Anderson EA2623-1 or EA2503 output transformer
* Standard 2520 DOA footprint mounts in Mill-Max sockets
* Standard 500 series compatible
* GroupDIY 51x compatible
* Multiple pre-built or kit form 2520's are available

More details can be found at the beginning of the Assembly Guide along with suggested and required tools and some important tips/pointers.

For some quick background, this preamp is directly based on the console preamp out of mid ‘70’s, vintage API™ console. It is not a 312 preamp. They sound distinctly different but still from the same great family of mid aggressiveness. I think they also prove that they don't have to be old to sound vintage!

My goal for this Assembly Guide was to have an interested but inexperienced person read it and come away with the "I can do it!" attitude. I hope I have done my job.
