"MС-402 was made in Hungary in 1964-1969 under the «Telefunken» license. It is а studio quality microphone coming with Telefunken heads M934b or M934c that provide а cardioid or omni pattern. The pattern switch is based on the head itself. The microphone preamplifier is made on Valve Telefunken АС701 and supplied with power from а stabilized power supply unit which with the help of quality filters provides the necessary low noise level.

"The CMC 6 is designed for standard 48- and 12-Volt phantom powering. Its circuitry recognizes the supply voltage and adjusts itself automatically. Its performance characteristics remain essentially the same either way; mainly, the difference is that the current drawn at 12 Volts is greater than at 48 Volts. However, the 12-Volt mode consumes less power and might be preferred for battery-powered recording.
The microphone amplifier provides the electrostatic charge which the capsule requires in order to produce a signal. Since only a miniscule amount of current is contained in this signal, amplification of the current is required. To avoid interference to the signal on the way from the microphone to the input of the mixer or preamp, the signal is conveyed at low impedance and in balanced form. The CMC 6 amplifier offers a symmetrical, transformerless, direct-coupled Class A output stage with low impedance, low distortion, and high freedom from interference."

This microphone comes from an award winning recording studio well known for producing gold records for 1980's hip hop and rock recording artists in Queens, New York. The microphone has been pampered, serviced regularly and generally handled in a professional manner. The aesthetic condition is excellent vintage. The body has some very minor wear purely due to handling and age. There is one small dent in the capsule and some tiny specs and dots in the aluminum body of the mic. The mic still sounds excellent, comes with the original box and schematics. I included some details below from the schoeps website. The power box takes 2 9V batteries and is missing 2 feet.
