Pair Telefunken Vintage V376 microphone preamplifier $1600

EBAY SELLER AUCTION DESCRIPTION

"
Classic discrete Microphone preamplifiers 0-76dB gain. One of the wonders of German audio engineering from the 70's, the direct follow-up of his big brother the: V76 tube preamplifier. The sound of these units is probably one of the nicest and most loved by audio purists, for absolute high-end recording these units are perfect.

With an amazing gain of +70dB and a fine tune knob adding a further +6dB you can fine tune in between the steps, also the high pass filter comes in handy switchable for 40hz/80hz/140hz. Look up the internet and find out how excellent these modules are ...

The preamplifiers are revised, they works without any failures and sounds - as they should - wonderful!!!"

TAB V76/120 tube mic preamp (V72 U73) mint US $3,250

TAB V76_02
TAB V76_01

Up for auction is a very rare and beautiful vintage german broadcast tube preamp made by TAB. It is seller refurbished, the caps are renewed and it comes with a connector and pinout diagram. It has a 220V input and should be run at exactly 220V to keep the tubes alive for a longer time. If you are interested in a rack housing, get in contact with us.

About TAB:
The company TAB (Tonographie Apperatebau Wuppertal) built the most famous tube preamps ever. The V72 / V76 preamps and the U73 tube limiter are highly sought after and prices are constantly rising. The Beatles were using the V72 heavily in the Abbey Roads Studio and many others did the same.

While the V72 had a fixed gain of 34dB and no control or filters on the frontplate, the V76 was two V72 modules cascaded in series with additional control features. The unit is capable of achieving 76 dB of gain and driving a signal farther than a V72 with little to no loss. Also, the unit comes with a switchable input pad. This allowes the user to change the gain in 6 dB steps across 12 positions- much more control than the V72. Many engineers prefer the V76 to the V72 due to the controls, increased gain and huge bass sound that it delivers.

This V76/120 with ser.-no. 4990 was checked, serviced and RECAPPED. It is in perfect technical condition. We measured the module afterwards and all values are very good. If you need a rack, a breakout cable or other V series modules, get in contact with us. We do have V72, V72a , v72b, V77 and V78 in stock. Also we have one pair of U73 tube limiters, which are even rarer, since every desk only had one stereo pair installed, but many V72 and V76 amps.

Here are the specs we measured:

V76 #4990

81,2 dB

0,011 %

-1,5dB / +0,5dB

ok 3-76 dB

Filter o.k.

If there was an "audio hall of fame" these units would have earned a place next to the Neve 1073, 1081, the Urei 1178 1176 or a Neumann U47 or AKG C12.

SE 4-Ch rack for Telefunken V76m Preamp US $2,250

SE 4-Ch rack for Telefunken V76m_01

The Telefunken V76m tube mic preamp and the other preamps in the V76 range are, in our opinion, the best ever built. The outstanding build quality, extraordinary audio transformers, ultra flat response, super quiet S/N ratio, the amazing precision of the controls, and fantastic sonics put these preamps in a class of their own.

Among many features of this great rack:

1. In each of the four slots, two strong bottom rails allow the modules to slide into place, and provide secure support from below. After the module slides into position, its chrome fastener latches very snugly against the front panel, securely locking the module into the exact right position.

2. The female Tuchel sockets "float" on the rear panel, to accommodate small variations in module dimensions and prevent damage to the module.

3. Each channel includes a Phase Reverse switch, Phantom Power on/off switch, 20 dB Pad, and Output Trim (with 20 dB of range).

4. Whenever phantom power is switched on or off, or main power is switched on or off, a "soft start" circuit slowly ramps the phantom voltage, to prevent damage to the sensitive mic transformer. (This essential safety feature is missing from many Telefunken racks.)

5. Each module is powered with 220 volts AC, as specified by Telefunken. (Many other Telefunken racks use 240 volt power, which causes excess heat and noise, and shortens the life of the modules!)

6. Mains and Phantom power utilize toroidal transformers, which do not create any noise or electromagnetic interference.

The top and bottom covers each include two perforated panels, allowing cool air to enter from below, and hot air to exit from the top. For durability, all labeling on the front and rear panels is engraved and hand painted, not just silkscreened. Telefunken modules are heavy (nearly 12 pounds each) so we made this rack strong and tight, to safely house or transport a full set of four.

The rack is 8.75" high (5 rack units) and 16" deep. Weight is about 20 lbs. (30 lbs. packed).

It is wired for 120 volts, but may be internally re-strapped for 240. A U.S. power cord is included. All the metalwork is brushed and grained aluminum, anodized "clear".

Please note: no V76m module is included. The module in the photos is only there to illustrate the appearance and fit of the rack.
