This unit has been well maintained by Soren Wittrup of CS electronics who is the regional Otari Tech. Work done: Power supply caps replaced, all relays replaced. Certain critical caps on output cards replaced. Capstan reconditioned. New Capstan wheel. Output amps are a mix of new and original(about half and half) All Channels and remote work. Aligned and Bias to 456 tape"

This auction is for a Otari MX-5050 BQII Professional 4-Track Reel to Reel Recorder + VERY RARE Model CR-705A Remote Control! I recently purchased this deck for use in my home stereo set-up, but quickly realized it was way overkill for what I need, and it would be a shame not to run it to its full potential. It does have a couple cosmetic issues, two of the button covers are missing, as pictured. The buttons still work fine, just the covers are missing. Included with the deck is the rare wired CR-705A remote control. This recorder is in good working condition. No reels included. What you see below is what you get. This machine is very heavy, and will not be cheap to ship! Around 60lbs unboxed! Shipping weight is set at 75lbs. Shipping quote includes the actual freight cost + proper box and padding material. I have shipped many large, heavy and fragile items, and rest asured it will get to you in the same condition it leaves my shop."

One of the units has a label "B" in the pictures and the other unit has the label "C". They were taken out of a professional recording studio in Philadelphia and I do not know whether or not they work perfectly because I do not know how to test them. They do turn on and do not look damaged in any way. All the other units from this recording studio were in perfect working condition including a Neve Sidecar unit."

"I have for sale an Otari MX-80 2" 24 Track Reel to Reel Tape Machine. The machine is in great working order and sounds amazing. It has a few blemishes that I will list below:
There is no card for channel 19, so there are only 23 good working channels.
The VU for channel 3 sticks when it hits peak.
The VU for channel 16 is broken.
The channel 9 VU has one lamp out.
The plastic window over the tape counter on the deck is cracked. It still operates totally fine.
The heads are in good shape. They were relapped by Sprague Magnetics at some point before I purchased it. I do not have the head report.
It also has the CB-140 remote control, and CB-120 Auto Locator on a wood trimmed rolling cart. 30' remote cable. The auto locator is a definite plus.
It is also the 32 track frame, so if you could magically find a 32 track remote, headstack, and 8 more cards you could have a 32 track machine."

"This Otari MX80 24 track 2' recorder is in great condition especially for it's age (late 1980s' early 1990s').
The transport is solid mechanically, the heads (record/playback/erase) all look in great shape with plenty of life and no visible signs of neglect or wear.
I bought this machine from the original owner who took immaculate care of it, and had it routinely maintained.
In my possession this machine has been properly stored in my home, used & cleaned regularly.
The only known issues with the operation of this machine are a few of the front panel meter's lights have gone out – the meters still function properly however, their lamps have burned out.
As seen in the photos below, this machine comes with the Otari CB-140 Remote Control (and stand) for track arming & transport controls, as well as a second or backup remote that can be used for spare parts?? The Remote comes with the proper cable connecting it to the MX80.
This machine also comes with the complete manual and documentation for the MX80.
This machine also comes with Otari Part # PCB-7JEA a channel extender board for the Otari MX80."
